Transferring an Account from Another Custodian
Transferring your account from another broker or custodian, such as Fidelity, Robinhood, LPL, etc is easy.
When your account gets moved over to your new Pantile account, which is custodied at Charles Schwab, we move over all assets and holdings, including cash, to ensure that a tax event is not triggered. Once the assets are in your Pantile account, we can then work together to decide what to keep and what to liquidate, based on the tax effects and investment strategies we (you and Pantile) find most optimal.
To move an account over, please follow these steps. These steps are best completed on a computer for ease of use with the Schwab portal and its workflows.
1. Log in to your Schwab account at www.schwab.com
2. Navigate to the "Move Money" tab on the top, then select "Transfer Account"
3. Type the name of the custodian where you account is located, such as "Fidelity", "Robinhood", "LPL Financial", etc.
4. Select the type of account you have at that custodian. Most accounts are "Individual", "401(k)", "IRA", "Roth 401(k)", or "Roth IRA". If you're not sure, please use the chat feature below to talk to our team or send us a secure message to ask for help.
5. Enter your account number at that custodian.
6. Select the Pantile/Schwab account that you want the assets transferred into. Then hit "Continue."
7. Choose whether or not you want to transfer the entire account, or just certain assets or securities in that account. Hit "Continue."
8. Verify that the names on both accounts match (i.e. "John Smith" on the existing account and "John Smith" on the Pantile/Schwab account). Hit "Continue."
9. If everything looks good, click "Submit Transfer."
10. That's it!
Once the account is moved over, you'll received an email from Charles Schwab letting you know that the transfer is complete, and our team will also receive an email. Once the assets are in your Pantile/Schwab account, the Pantile team can allocate either liquidate those assets to be used in our investment strategies or you can keep those assets in the account, whichever you and your Pantile advisor decide.
If you have any questions about this process, please use the chat at the bottom of any Pantile page (if you're logged into your Pantile account those chats will be saved), or send us a secure message using our client portal.
